Fundación Retoño's History in Uruguay


2002
Fundación Retoño purchased a 10 hectares piece of land in an area called Puntas de Manga on the outskirts of Montevideo and made an important investment in the infrastructure needed to carry out projects of a social nature.


2005
Fundación Retoño and INAU (Uruguayan Institute for Children and Youth) signed an agreement to manage a day-time education centre called "Espigas".


2007
Official opening of the new Youth building for youngsters who participate in the Youth Project, entirely funded by Fundación Retoño. As of 2015, the building is Simiente Project's headquarters.


2010
Fundación Retoño and Fondation Forge signed an agreement to establish a Forge satellite headquarter at the Espigas Centre. 16 to 18 year-old youngsters, who attend public high schools in the area, are trained by Forge in degrees that are highly sought after in the work market.


2010
Fundación Retoño built modern Ambulatory Medical and Dental Health Clinics at the Espigas Centre. These clinics, which are fully financed by the Foundation, provide health care, education and prevention to more than 400 children who attend Espigas and their direct relatives, comprising a population of over 200 families.




2015
This year, Fundación Retoño started building Liceo Espigas, a free, full time, government-approved high school at the Espigas Centre. It is scheduled to open in 2016.
